House Clearance Costs

How Much Does House Clearance Cost?

It can vary! – we can provide you a quote over the phone, our quote includes everything, we do not add anything on when we arrive or finish, NO HIDDEN EXTRAS, NO VAT,  our quote is completely transparent. Compared to the cost of hiring skips and the time you would spend filling it, we believe our fees are extremely reasonable. We accept most types of payment, upon completion of the clearance.

Costs involved:

When a house is cleared there are many costs associated with the job and vary depending on the items cleared.

Many Recycling Centres across the UK operate a strict policy which must be followed when dealing with household waste that most people are not aware of.

Some things need cleared in a safe way theses include but are not restricted to:

  • Asbestos

  • Pesticides

  • Fluorescent tubes

  • Oils

  • Some paints

  • Some household and car batteries

  • Electrical equipment like TVs and computer monitors, fridges and freezers

  • Energy saving light bulbs (also known as CFLs)

  • Mattresses

  • Plasterboard

  • Car tyres

Due to recent changes made at recycling centres nationwide there is now a charge for the disposal of plasterboard and mattresses as such they cannot be treated as general waste.

When considering the cost of a house clearance many factors must be taken into account:

  • Size of the property

  • Types of material to be disposed of

  • Amount to be disposed of

  • Availability of utilities (i.e. water, electric)

  • Time needed for completion of the house clearance

  • Supplies

  • Location and travel time

  • Parking difficulty

  • High rise flats with only stair access

  • How much time it would take you?

  • How much your time is worth?

  • Is there a garden clearance involved?

  • Is there a garage or out building to clear? (These often contain quantities of toxic material such as paint and garden pesticides)

  • The loft area can sometimes have large amounts of clutter

  • The cost of a full house clearance, particularly when it is in bad condition, can be complex, and fairly costly. For example, hoarding situations or verminous (excessive rubbish).

So the cost to you on average is skip hire about £150 plus £30 if it needs to be placed on the public land. Time taken to fill skip is 3 hours (average) plus turnaround time (that’s the time it takes from you ringing the skip hire company and them coming with a new skip).
