As part of operation ‘STOP IT’ CCTV cameras are set to be installed across County Durham to tackle flytipping

Operation STOP IT has been labelled as the biggest ever crackdown on the illegal dumping of waste in County Durham area.

Representatives from Durham Constabulary and the Environment Agency have joined forces to catch people in the act of illegally dumping waste and ensure householders understand their responsibilities in making sure their waste is disposed of properly.

As part of this portable CCTV has been installed at fly tipping ‘hot spots’ to catch people in the act. Flytipping can be reported by contacting 03000-261000, online at durham.gov.uk/flytipping or via Crimestoppers on 0800-555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org
