4 Safety Products That Aren’t Safe
In a world where health and safety has gone crazy, it’s reasonable to assume that people at home take their safety and also their family’s seriously. In fact many people buy ‘safety’ products for that exact reason.
But are all of these safety products safe? Here at W.K House Clearance we have a responsibility to ensure anything we donate is fit and safe for purpose. We have compiled a list of 4 safety products that have been recalled because in fact they aren’t safe for use. As most of these products have been recalled because they offer a risk of electric shock or electrical fire, they present a serious risk.

Name of product: Rechargeable batteries used in Summer Infant video monitors.
Hazard: The battery in the handheld video monitor can overheat and rupture, posing a burn hazard to consumers.
Argos baby start led night-light / Homebase Nightlight
Name of Product : Argos Baby Start LED Night Light / Homebase Nightlight (Babystart Argos 910/4000; Homebase 126116).
Hazard : Burns and gives off electric shock. The product has been made without an internal fuse and in certain situations this may lead to premature failure of other components. If there is a spike in the electrical current it is possible that the product may fail and emit smoke or cause a small explosion. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant national standard.
2 Ways Safety Socket 3m/5m
Name of Product: 2 Ways Safety Socket 3m/5m (Type/number of model: 8812 Batch number/Bar code: 3 meters: 5291788005232 , 5 meters: 5291788003924).
Hazard: The product poses a risk of burns and fire as its resistance to heat is insufficient. In addition, the product poses a risk of electric shock because live parts with high voltage are easily accessible. Further, it does not meet the relevant national and European standards.
Terminator Surge Protector Extension lead
Name of product: Terminator Surge Protector Extension lead
Hazard: Electric shock and fire. The user can access live parts as the shutters on the socket outlet can be by-passed. The product can overheat and catch fire. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant national standard.
